OUR HISTORY

In 1996 Ada got married to Mike Folajimi and joined him in Kachia in Kaduna State of Nigeria where the Lord has already asked Mike to remain after his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and serve him with his medical practice in 1990 which he obeyed  and stayed back. He started a small Clinic in Sabon Gari Kachia in 1993 and was reaching out to the poor, preaching the gospel as he practiced his medical missions. The clinic was also open to those who can pay for the services as that became the support base for their work later.

Ada having worked with the Nigerian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES) in Nigeria as a training secretary could not really fix what the Lord want her to be doing in Kachia, "I am not a Doctor or a Nurse so I am not sure the Lord was bringing me to Kachia to work in the Hospital.

After she settled down and was giving a leave of absence from (NIFES) she and her husband began to pray and ask the Lord what He will want her to do now especially in the ministry of reaching the unreached tribes generally as Mike was already heading the medical work .

The Lord began to drop the passion of the unreached people around them in their hearts. The poor, the young girls that are giving out in marriage as early as 12years some as 3rd, 4th wife's to old men who are old enough to be their fathers, the illiteracy level and HIV and AIDS that was ravaging the people of Southern Kaduna at that time. Ada became confused and worried "how do I start and where do I start from" was always  her questions as such she made so many mistakes at the initial stage when the vision was not very clear. She began discipleship meetings, prayer cells and fellowship meetings in the hospital which later grew to become the hospital chapel in 2005. She also began to run outreach programs to some villages and also to run evangelistic outreaches among the Fulani's and Hausa Muslims , they began to attempt paying school fees for some young sharp girls and boys from very poor homes who cannot afford to pay their fees.

One day in 2002 she organized a mission conference in Kachia, some ministers and mission minded people came and she challenged them to take the gospel to the unreached people around them and after that conference, Evelyn James could not rest, she later became the major 4 people that joined Ada and Mike in starting Sojourners Missions officially in July 2002. Merged with the Medical Missions which Mike has already started in 1993, they began a cross-cultural mission outfit that have grown to be what it is today.
